Concord Orthopaedics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Workers’ Compensation Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a key role in enhancing service quality for our workers’ compensation patients, case managers, adjusters, employers, and physicians. The coordinator ensures accurate claims processing and timely payment for services, while supporting patients through streamlined care and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Make daily confirmation calls and identify prior authorization needs, alerting appropriate staff per department procedures.
Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information; upload to the electronic medical record system.
Negotiate fees for out-of-state workers’ compensation claims and coordinate with the Business Office.
Review and ensure accuracy of workers’ compensation forms; work with providers to resolve discrepancies.
Respond to inquiries from nurse case managers, adjusters, employers, and attorneys according to established policies.
Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims per NH State Labor Laws, including communication with adjusters and insurance carriers; submit appeals as needed.
Update and review claim information, notify providers of relevant changes, and collect private insurance details from patients.
Serve as a resource for internal and external workers’ compensation-related questions.
Organize and coordinate meetings with adjusters and frequently used companies to maintain and strengthen relationships.
Additional Duties (As Needed)
Discuss medical and legal aspects of claims with case managers, patients, adjusters, and physicians per NH Workers’ Compensation laws.
Communicate diagnostic and surgical procedure information to insurance adjusters and manage the utilization review process.
Assess and coordinate scheduling of PIR, FCE, Record Review, and IME requests with physicians.
Review and edit IME, PIR, and Record Review reports with physicians before final processing.
Handle billing for PIR, legal, and IME requests per established procedures.
Work with workers’ compensation carriers and the Secondary Injury Fund physician for accurate billing and processing.
Review written correspondence from case managers, adjusters, and attorneys before discussing with physicians and offer guidance as needed.
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of New Hampshire State Workers’ Compensation processes and relevant legal/orthopedic terminology.
Minimum 1 year of experience working with workers’ compensation insurance carriers or adjusters (required).
Minimum 1 year of experience in medical records review, including IMEs and PIRs (required).
Understanding of insurance carrier prior authorization requirements.
Ability to perform well in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
Professional appearance and a positive, approachable demeanor.
Strong communication, telephone, and computer skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
