CONCORD ENGINEERING GROUP, INC. is searching for an experienced Director, Healthcare/Sciences Engineering to manage a multi-disciplined team to execute planning, new construction and renovation projects for healthcare and life sciences facilities. Candidate must be accomplished in the design and project management for Acute and Ambulatory Care Health Facilities and both Academic and Corporate Research Facilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director is responsible for building and maintaining client relationships. The successful candidate is accomplished in responding to RFP?s and presenting/interviewing for potential projects. In addition, the Director will: provide, develop conceptual designs and perform peer review of final designs, staffing, resource planning and development of man-hour estimates, etc. within the Department. Serve as the primary point of contact for the client on project(s). Responsible for the overall coordination, execution of project(s) and management of the staff of direct reports.
The qualified and motivated successful candidate in this position, will have the opportunity to advance to the VP/Department head position which includes significant bonus/profit sharing compensation.
While our Company headquarters are in Voorhees, NJ this position can work out of our NYC, Philadelphia and/or Princeton locations. This position can also be hybrid.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Provide management, mentoring and overall team oversight for the team for respective discipline and support cross-discipline coordination.
- Manage, and oversee overall technical quality and QA/QC process for the department for respective discipline utilizing Concord QA/QC process forms/checklists. Document QA/QC reviews for record.
- Supervise and manage team of direct reports and assigned engineers on each project. Conduct meetings as necessary to support the supervision efforts.
- Work with Management staff to maintain scheduling of project deadlines and manpower assignments.
- Develop and write bid proposals, contracts, cost estimates, etc. using the agreed upon Concord methods and standards.
- Provide deep engineering expertise, guidance and problem solving in the areas of drawings, designs, specifications, calculations, etc.
- Provide hands-on project management by consistently reviewing project plans and timelines to ensure project are on time and on budget. Adjust manpower and resources as needed to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Establish and maintain excellent client relationships, ensuring the highest level of responsiveness and communication.
- Interact with the other Department Directors to maintain efficient operation of department.
- In conjunction with VP and President, hire with approval, train and mentor engineering staff.
- Write performance appraisals and mediate performance issues.
- Ensure accurate project status, working with accounting dept. to ensure compliance with all accounting protocols.
- Maintain department budget and revenue projections.
- Support department marketing efforts as it relates to area of expertise.
REQUIREMENTS
- Deep knowledge of multi-discipline engineering including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection for critical care healthcare projects.
- Understanding of laboratory mechanical and electrical and plumbing design.
- Must be proficient in the development of construction documents and have experience in detailed design for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical/IT systems with the healthcare.
- Strong and demonstrated project management and communication skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements specifically NFPA and Joint Meeting, FGI and AHJ.
- Must have experience/working knowledge of load analysis and energy modeling programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.
- Strong working knowledge and utilization of AutoCAD and Revit experience
- Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
- Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
- At least 15 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience with a strong record of accomplishment in the design and project management for critical care facilities and laboratories.
- Experience in the execution of designs and the management of a multi-disciplined team of MEP engineers and designers.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position starts at $185,000 - $200,000 with actual salary based on experience. This position will also offer a sign on bonus and a profit-sharing bonus.
