POSITION PURPOSE: Directs and coordinates educational, administrative, and counseling activities of an elementary, middle, or secondary school by performing the following duties.

POSITION PURPOSE: Directs and coordinates educational, administrative, and counseling activities of an elementary, middle, or secondary school by performing the following duties.

- Evaluates educational program to ensure conformance to state and school board standards.
- Coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teaching department’s activities, and issuance of directives.
- Confers with teaching personnel, pupils, and parents on matters pertaining to educational and behavioral problems in school.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with colleges, community organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services.
- Requisitions and allocates supplies, equipment, and instructional material as needed.
- Directs preparation of class schedules, cumulative records, and attendance reports.
- Plans and monitors school budget.
- Supervises the guidance program.
- Establishes and maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary.
- Assists in in-service and training services for the teaching staff.
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
- Ability to plan and organize.
- Skills in human relations.
- Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
- Proven instructional leader.
- Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee should be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and work: pen, pencil, pointer, stylus, projector, public address system, tape recorder, blackboard, chalk, charts, diagrams, examinations, manuals, maps, publications, reference books, textbooks, and computers.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
