Director of Curriculum and Pedagogy

Concord Academy, an independent, co-educational boarding and day school renowned for its world-class faculty, passionate students, and graduates who make their mark on the world, seeks to fill a full-time opening for a Director of Curriculum and Pedagogy, to begin July 1, 2026.

The school seeks an experienced educator and administrator to support the work of a talented and creative faculty in fostering CA’s innovative and collaborative curriculum. Offering over 200 courses annually, CA’s Academic Program is one where teachers and students work in partnership as they explore an academic curriculum characterized by unrivaled elective choices and unified by intentional skill development across ages and departments. The Director will partner with the Associate Head for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty, and with academic department heads, to align curricular offerings and goals with CA’s Portrait of a Graduate, and to offer pedagogical guidance to CA’s faculty in support of current and future student learning. The Director will oversee initiatives to support experiential and interdisciplinary learning, cultivate and maintain strong pedagogical practices, and support a community of teaching excellence. The ideal candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for working with adolescents and educators, deep curiosity about learning, a creative and open-minded approach, and a commitment to professional and personal growth. 

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with the Associate Head and academic department heads on the work of the Academic Council, and the review and design of curricular offerings.

• Oversee experiential and interdisciplinary programs, including:

  • domestic/international student trips

  • semester away programs

  • senior projects

  • curricular fieldwork, maker-space, & course-related initiatives

• Oversee Faculty Annual Reflection & Growth/Milestone Processes, and assist faculty with individualized goal-setting.

• Cultivate resources on best practices, pursuing professional development around pedagogical trends, and developing networks with other visionary schools and institutions.

• Collaborate with the Director of Learning Services & Partnerships to support educators in teaching to differentiated learning styles and implementing accommodation plans.

• Provide mentorship, observation, and coaching, and connect faculty with professional development programs, events, and opportunities.

• Oversee the team of educators in the Office of Pedagogy, to onboard and orient new colleagues and to plan and implement regular professional development experiences for teachers and advisors.

• Collaborate with IT on academic technology initiatives.

• Serve as academic advisor for multiple students.

• Teach two courses per year in a field of expertise.

The school provides a competitive benefits package, and salary is commensurate with experience. Student-facing staff members at Concord Academy participate fully in the life of the school; responsibilities include advising, serving on committees and/or clubs, and periodically providing an adult presence at school events. On-campus housing may be available, but it is limited, and employees are not required to live at the school.
