Senior Software Engineer

Location: ​Wilmington, DE (Hybrid – 2/3 days for now but will be fully onsite after some time)

Duration: 6 Months (Contract to hire)

Java Developer with AWS

Ab Initio – good to have

Currently working on Ab Initio; planning to move to Java AWS by next year

Java Ab Initio preferred, but open to Java Data Engineering background

Job Description:

• As a Software Engineer III – Java/Big Data/AWS at Client within the Connected Commerce - Banking Payments team, candidate serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.
• Candidates are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
• Proficient in Full Stack Development as well as multiple design techniques
• Working proficiency in Full Stack toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies with ability to work in at least one of the common frameworks
• Strong understanding of techniques such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Test Driven Development, Cloud Development, application resiliency and security
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages
• Working proficiency in a portion of software engineering disciplines and demonstrates understanding of overall software skills including business analysis, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement of Software

Job Responsibilities:

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills:

• 7 plus years of Software Development experience with enterprise applications
• Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance - Java / Spring Boot / Microservices / RestAPIs
• Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills:

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies – React.JS, Angular, or similar JavaScript framework
• Exposure to cloud technologies – AWS EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, Lambdas
• Big Data Technologies, such as Ab Initio, ETL, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
