Overview:
A well-established, privately held organization is seeking an AP/AR Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, credit management, insurance-related accounting, and allocations. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong internal controls, and supporting healthy cash flow.
What You’ll Do:
Accounts Payable
- Oversee AP processing including vendor setup, invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment runs
- Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments
- Resolve discrepancies and maintain strong vendor relationships
Accounts Receivable, Collections & Credit
- Manage AR operations including invoicing, cash application, and account maintenance
- Lead collections efforts to ensure timely payment and optimize cash flow
- Establish and manage credit policies, limits, and reviews
- Resolve complex billing, payment, and credit issues
- Monitor AR aging and report trends and risks
Allocations & Accounting Operations
- Manage allocations including insurance accruals, shared services, and intercompany activity
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies
- Support month-end close activities related to AP/AR and allocations
Leadership & Controls
- Supervise and develop AP/AR staff
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing AP, AR, collections, and credit
- Strong knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls
- Experience with credit management and collections strategies
- Knowledge of allocations and month-end close processes
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations, including filings and reconciliations
- Experience with Avalara is a plus
