Role Description
The Senior Quality Engineer is a hands-on role assisting cross-functional teams with quality, engineering, continuous improvement, and compliance. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and preparing for the transition to ISO 9001:2026, ensuring product quality, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
Job Functions:
- Maintain and enforce procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015
- Guide transition towards ISO 9001:2026
- Diagnose non-conforming products and implement engineered solutions to improve product quality
- Implement internal and external corrective and preventative action (CAPA) reports
- Ensure all personnel are properly trained in all job duties and maintain records
- Support engineering with change control procedures
- Support production with quality issues and continuous improvement
- Support Quality Technician with incoming and in-process inspections
- Support Quality Technician with equipment and tooling calibration schedules and records keeping
- Coordinate bi-annual Management Review Meetings, maintain notes, and manage action items
- Coordinate internal audits
- Communicate with customers regarding product non-conformance, product qualifications, equipment validations, and compliance
- Lead MRB for NCs and RMAs
- Maintain and support REACH and RoHS compliance requirements
- Qualify new and existing suppliers and maintain Approved Supplier List
- Ensure in-bound raw materials meet all quality requirements
- Ensure out-bound products meet all quality requirements
- Perform trend analysis, maintain scrap reports, and manage metrics to identify opportunities to improve product quality
- Utilize metrology equipment including CMM, vision system, digital microscope, and other general equipment to inspect materials and diagnose non-conforming conditions
- Strategize with senior management to ensure lasting product quality
General Qualifications:
- Proficient with CMM, and other modern metrology equipment
- Proficient with modern, computer-based MRP/ERP systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Great attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift 40lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in applicable field
- 10 years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous management experience
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in quality engineering or equivalent
- 5 years of quality engineering in a manufacturing environment under ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS 9100, IATF 16949, or other similar quality standard
