Director of Operations – Distribution & Logistics

Position Overview

Concentric Corporation is conducting a search for an experienced Director of Operations – Distribution & Logistics to provide strategic and hands-on leadership across warehouse, transportation, distribution, and logistics operations for a growing organization.

This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for improving operational performance, developing leaders, strengthening processes, managing costs and risk, and ensuring products move safely, accurately, and efficiently throughout the distribution network.

The ideal candidate is a proven operations leader who can balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day execution. This individual will use data to drive decisions, establish clear performance expectations, develop high-performing teams, and continuously identify opportunities to improve productivity, service, safety, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across warehouse, transportation, distribution, and logistics operations
• Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies that support business objectives and continued growth
• Oversee inbound and outbound transportation, product movement, order fulfillment, storage, and distribution activities
• Establish consistent operational processes, procedures, performance expectations, and accountability
• Monitor and improve warehouse and transportation productivity, service levels, accuracy, efficiency, and cost performance
• Partner across sales, supply chain, planning, and other departments to ensure efficient product movement and strong customer service
• Identify operational bottlenecks, root causes, and opportunities for sustainable process improvement
• Evaluate inventory movement and operational capacity to support customer demand and business needs
• Manage relationships with transportation providers, vendors, contractors, and other external business partners
• Establish and monitor operational KPIs related to productivity, quality, delivery performance, inventory accuracy, safety, service, and cost
• Analyze operational data and translate findings into measurable action plans
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and strengthen overall performance
• Evaluate technology, systems, and tools that can improve operational visibility, planning, and decision-making
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop operations leaders and their teams
• Establish clear expectations and accountability while building a collaborative, performance-focused culture
• Partner with appropriate teams on hiring, training, employee development, performance management, and succession planning
• Champion workplace safety and ensure compliance with applicable transportation, warehouse, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Identify operational risks and implement appropriate processes, controls, and corrective actions
• Provide leadership with clear reporting regarding operational performance, challenges, risks, and opportunities
• Present operational results, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership
• Evaluate staffing, capital, process, and operational needs as the business continues to grow

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, supply chain, or a related field
• Significant experience leading warehouse, transportation, or distribution operations with responsibility for overall performance
• Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing managers and operational teams
• Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound transportation, warehouse operations, distribution, inventory movement, and supply chain processes
• Experience developing and managing operational KPIs and performance standards
• Proven ability to identify operational challenges, determine root causes, and implement sustainable solutions
• Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing costs and evaluating operational performance
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to use data from multiple sources to identify trends and develop actionable recommendations
• Experience managing vendor, carrier, contractor, or third-party relationships
• Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to collaborate and influence effectively across multiple departments and levels of an organization
• Comfortable presenting operational results and recommendations to senior leadership
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational risk management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with operational, warehouse, transportation, logistics, or business intelligence systems

Preferred Experience

• Multi-location operations leadership experience
• Experience leading both warehouse and transportation functions
• Experience within a high-volume distribution environment
• Experience implementing operational best practices across multiple teams or locations
• Demonstrated success improving productivity, service levels, safety, quality, and operating costs
• Experience evaluating or implementing technology to improve distribution and logistics operations
