Sonographer Job Description

We are searching for a Sonographer to join our growing team We are looking to Hire now. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Clinical/Technical
· Perform follicular and early pregnancy ultrasound tests in accordance with established protocol for diagnostic purposes using ultrasound equipment for subsequent evaluation by the Physician.
· Prepare patient for ultrasound by positioning patient, moving equipment into specified position, adjusting equipment controls, and properly draping the patient.
· Adjust equipment using visual observations, knowledge of cross section anatomy, knowledge of physics, judgment as to size of the patient, procedure to be done and type of scan performed.
· View screen and make corrections adjusting dials for clarity, correctness of size, focus, depth of penetration and brightness or darkness or erasing until proper image appears for photographing.
· Take series of pictures when proper image is obtained. Position pictures in proper sequence on the ultrasound report sheet and label them for the physician to read them and make a diagnosis.
· Document appropriate information in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
· Ensure proper operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling repairs.
· Maintains production and quality of ultrasounds by following established standards and procedures; observing results; making necessary adjustments.
· Discusses results with multidisciplinary team, which includes physicians, nurses, and MA's.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols and storage procedures.
· Maintains related supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
· Assist in the development of ultrasound scheduling and protocols.
· Train new ultrasound technologists as necessary.
Patient Interaction
· Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
· Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of procedure; answering questions. Comfort patient during times of physical and emotional stress.
· Assists patient services and receptionist to prioritize patient appointments, and handle emergency visits.
Professional Development
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participates in professional societies; establishing personal networks.
· Follows all state regulations regarding continued professional license.
Physical Demands
Must exhibit desirable trunk and extremity mobility and strength to perform job duties
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds safely
· Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead
· Must be able to see, hear and speak English
· Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods
Work Environment
-In the work environment of the facility, there may be potential exposure to communicable diseases, contaminated blood and body fluids, and hazardous materials.
Job Type: Flex-time, generally mornings
