Buyer

As a Commodity Buyer, you’ll be responsible for raw material planning, purchasing, and inventory control to support on-time delivery of finished goods. You’ll work closely with suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations while helping optimize our material flow and production schedules. This is a hands-on role where your problem-solving and organizational skills will directly impact our success.

What You’ll Do

• Manage purchasing parameters, including lead times, demand planning, and order frequencies.

• Create, maintain, and track purchase orders and blanket orders.

• Monitor supplier performance, follow up on deliveries, and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.

• Use data analysis (Excel & MRP systems) to optimize inventory levels and material flow.

• Conduct sourcing activities to identify and negotiate with suppliers, reducing lead times and costs.

• Collaborate daily with production and supply chain teams to proactively manage material shortages.

• Participate in team huddles and document best practices in our internal knowledge base.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, other related fields preferred or applicable experience.
• 2-3 years of purchasing and/or supply chain management in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Experience using MRP systems (Odoo preferred).
• Excel experience and ability and comfort using functions, such as V-Lookup, X-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.
• Ability to link different data “questions” from business information systems (using Excel). For example, linking part usage history with part purchase history or linking part usage history with primary supplier data.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints for machined and custom parts and communicate those requirements to potential suppliers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• 2–3 years of purchasing and/or supply chain experience in a lean manufacturing environment.

• Strong experience with MRP systems (Odoo preferred).

• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, linking data sets).

• Ability to interpret blueprints for machined and custom parts and communicate requirements to suppliers.

• Strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills.

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

Salary ranges for this position are determined based upon the job location and can be adjusted based upon experience, reflecting our commitment to valuing the expertise and contributions of our individual teammates. Salary range for this role is $50,000 - $80,000 annually based upon experience.
