Description
The Assistant Director of Valet Operations will oversee the valet team at the JW Marriott Reston Station in Reston, VA. The role involves leading and managing the valet team, addressing customer concerns, liaising with the hotel management team, handling all staffing needs, and maintaining an exceptional level of service. The Assistant Director of Valet Operations will assist with financial planning, reporting, and policy development while supporting organizational goals through effective leadership and continuous improvement of valet services. Key Responsibilities
· Provides leadership, direct management, and day-to-day oversight of the valet team, including supervisors, contract labor, and valet attendants.
· Manages, prepares, and adheres to the annual budget for the hotel.
· Ensures team members understand and promote corporate goals, core values, and departmental responsibilities detailed in the Company org chart and Employee Handbook.
· Always maintains proper staffing levels to ensure customer service and operating standards are met through scheduling and managing on-call employees.
· Directly oversees all day-to-day activities associated with opening, managing, and closing the facility
· Complies with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe manner.
· Exhibits a professional and courteous demeanor with all customers, tenants, and guests.
· Acknowledges, greets, and welcomes customers, tenants, and guests, using appropriate protocols.
· Assists customers, tenants, and guests with loading and unloading belongings as needed.
· Maintains a neat and orderly valet stand and drive at all times, free of debris and trash.
· Completes any required end of shift documentation and transfer vehicle keys to the next shifts employees.
· Assists customers and passengers with entering and exiting their vehicles.
· When possible, helps customers with their luggage and/or personal items.
· Controls traffic on the front drive and ensures that the drive is safe for pedestrians
· Reports to work on time, and notify your manager if you will be late or absent
· Notifies management of any situation that may require their attention
· Completes claims form with customer and relays all information regarding claim reports to your manager
· Responsibly and safely parks and retrieves guest’s vehicles when needed.
· Ensures that the valet team is accurately recording the location of all parked vehicles.
· Explains parking rates and retrieval procedures to customers, tenants, and guests upon arrival.
· Documents and reports any incidents of damage.
· Maintains a safe, clean and neat work environment by following standards and procedures.
· Attends hotel meetings that impact valet operations.
· Completes small cleaning or maintenance tasks according to the company's maintenance checklists.
· Fills in for front line attendants during their absences.
· Promptly addresses and resolves customer concerns in a first-class manner that is consistent with
guidelines established by the ParkX Management Executive Team.
· Walk assigned properties daily and keep a running list of maintenance items.
· Resolves customer concerns that are escalated to his/her attention by the facility’s front-line associates
· Maintains equipment through regular maintenance and preventative care.
· Manages scheduling, payroll, deployment, supervision, training, and discipline of valet attendants.
· Is available for weekend and after-hours work, particularly during events hosted by JW Marriott.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of valet management or parking operations management.
• Valid driver's license without major violations
• Flexibility to work after hours and weekends for events
• Outgoing personality with ability to relate to diverse group of people and build/maintain strong relationships
• Strong problem-solving, time management and communication skills
• Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity
• Must hold oneself and others accountable and strive for a high level of excellence
