COMSOL, Inc. is seeking a full-time applications engineer to join our Applications team on site in Burlington, MA.Job DescriptionIn this role, you will provide comprehensive pre-sales and post-sales support for the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, especially as it relates to its capabilities for building geometries and meshing. This will involve working with engineers as they simulate the next generation of tech with COMSOL Multiphysics®.As the successful applicant, you are expected to have an education in an engineering or scientific discipline and experience with simulating technical applications. With this basis, you will be tasked with developing your technical proficiency in new areas of science and engineering as you help COMSOL’s users simulate their designs, devices, and processes. You will collaborate closely with other simulation engineers and software developers who are experts in their fields.Responsibilities
- Provide support to COMSOL Multiphysics users during the preprocessing steps of their modeling workflows, such as:
- Geometry simplification and cleanup
- Mesh generation and optimization
- Continuously expand your knowledge within geometry handling and meshing to help users get the most out of their simulations
- Provide other applications engineers, technical account managers, and sales engineers with geometry and meshing related support
- Demonstrate the use of the COMSOL® software and its geometry and meshing features in:
- Web workshops
- Customer meetings
- Other marketing and sales events
- Develop technical content and teach courses on building geometries and meshing in COMSOL®
- Contribute to the development of our software's CAD, ECAD and meshing functionalities
- A willingness and ability to travel occasionally to current and potential customers in order to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities in North America
- BS in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science
- Proven experience using industry-standard tools to create and manage:
- Complex 3D computer-aided design (CAD) assemblies
- Advanced electronic computer-aided design (ECAD)/printed circuit board (PCB) designs
- Familiarity with standard CAD formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid®, and ACIS®) and surface mesh formats (STL and 3MF)
- Excellent communication skills on the phone, in person, and in writing
- Current eligibility to work in the U.S. is required. No sponsorship for employment-based visas will be offered for this position. F-1 visa holders not accepted.
- A master’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science
- A good working knowledge of one or multiple of the following fields: acoustics, electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics
- Knowledge of mesh-based numerical methods for solving partial differential equations (PDEs), such as the finite element method or similar
- Experience using physics-based engineering simulation software, such as COMSOL Multiphysics®
- Experience using ECAD tools
- Design experience with microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices, integrated circuits, or printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Prior experience in a customer-facing role

Salary : $75,000 - $110,000
