PROJECT ENGINEER – MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
Job Type: Full Time, Degreed Engineer, Minimum 5 years experience, 10 preferred, PE License not required
BASIC JOB FUNCTION
Act as a strong technical resource and engineering lead for our project execution team (both in the office and at the site), with full responsibility for the specification and selection of mechanical equipment and instrumentation used on Air Cooled Steam Condensers for power plants and other industrial facilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Sound knowledge of equipment and process design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and control & instrumentation.
- Familiarity with the design and selection of equipment such as fans, gearboxes, pumps, vacuum pumps, steam ejectors, electric motors, or other similar equipment in the power or process industry.
- Well-developed ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering and construction.
- Passion for product improvement combined with in-depth technical expertise.
- Great attention to detail and the ability to work collectively with a project team.
Responsibilities:
- The Project Engineer is responsible for preparing performance requisitions and Company standards as well as supporting design calculations for sizing for the following equipment:
- Rotating Equipment– Axial Fans, Gearboxes, Motors, Pumps, Piping, Valves, Vacuum Systems – Skid Based, Heat Exchangers – Plate/Frame, Shell/Tube, Air Cooled
- Pressure Vessels and Tanks
- Metallic and Non-Metallic Expansion Joints – Large Ductwork Systems and Piping
- Piping – Small and Large Bore with related valves and equipment to carry air, wet fluids and steam
- Pipe Supports
- Instrument Data Sheets and supporting documents such as Instrument List, I/O List, Utilities Consumption List including Electrical Loads, Terminal Point List, Valve List, Piping Line List, Instrument Hookup Drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- In addition to preparing requisitions, duties include technical evaluation of bids, review and approval of vendor drawings and documents, coordination with other project engineering disciplines, performing inspections as needed.
- Participates in developing new products.
- Ability and willingness to assume full responsibility in support of a project, product line or equipment component, insure customer specification compliance, and develop company standards which combine robust and effective technical performance with economic competitiveness.
- Interface with client, suppliers, utility companies, construction personnel, other engineering firms, subcontractors, and vendors in addition to Project Management.
- Coordinate timely replies to equipment engineering-related inquiries from clients and vendors.
- Support site erection and commissioning teams.
- Perform equipment inspections at vendor fabrication facilities.
- Perform equipment performance checks at the site.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrated mechanical experience subsequent to a related engineering degree.
- Project Engineering Experience in a relevant industry
- Technical writing, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.
- Experience on Large Utility, Industrial, and/or EPC projects desirable.
- Knowledge of fabrication procedures and practices, welding, ASME and AWS Codes and non-destructive testing/inspection a plus.
Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
