About the Role

Comrise is seeking a safety-focused, dependable, and experienced Heavy Machinery Operator to support the safe operation, testing, and readiness of large-scale mining vehicles in Safford, AZ.

In this position, you will operate and maintain 20-ton mining vehicles, conduct rigorous safety inspections, and partner directly with engineering teams to test advanced hardware and software systems. Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Operation: Safely operate 20-ton mining vehicles (rigid haul frame or articulated haul trucks) and support fleet equipment.
• Inspections & Safety: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), promptly reporting maintenance or performance issues.
• Testing & Feedback: Support hardware/software testing workflows and provide clear written and verbal feedback on vehicle performance to engineering teams.
• Operational Excellence: Uphold strict safety, regulatory, and compliance standards to keep assigned vehicles deployment-ready.
• Flexibility & Travel: Travel up to 50% as required, including an initial 1-week training program in Sunol, CA prior to deployment in Arizona.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: 5 years of verifiable heavy machinery operator experience.
• Equipment Proficiency: Proven ability operating, maneuvering, and backing 20-ton heavy equipment (rigid haul frame experience preferred; articulated haul truck experience accepted).
• Driver Requirements: Must meet all DOT driver standards, including passing a Background Check, Drug Screen, Physical, MVR review, and Road Test. A valid CDL-A is a plus, but not required.
• Clean Driving Record (MVR):
• No more than 2 minor moving violations in the last 3 years.
• No serious traffic violations in the last 5 years.
• No preventable accidents in the last 3 years (and no preventable DOT-recordable accidents in the last 10 years).
• No DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving convictions in the last 10 years.
• Mindset: Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, professionalism, team orientation, and an eagerness to learn driver-assistance and autonomous technology.

Work Schedule & Logistics

• Hours: Full-time (30 hours/week).
• Location: Onsite in Safford, AZ.
• Interview Process: Phone screen followed by an onsite interview.
