About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Test Engineer to support the verification and validation of embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated products for a leading medical technology organization.
In this role, you'll develop comprehensive test strategies, execute manual and automated testing, identify and troubleshoot defects, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and quality teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop test plans, test protocols, and detailed test cases from product requirements.
- Perform manual and automated testing of embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated systems.
- Execute system-level verification and validation activities.
- Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
- Document test execution results, defects, and verification outcomes.
- Prepare clear test reports for engineering, quality, and regulatory review.
- Utilize command-line tools, logs, and hardware diagnostic methods to validate system performance.
- Partner with Software, Hardware, Quality, and Project teams to support successful product development and release.
- Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of embedded software or firmware testing experience.
- Experience creating: Test plans, Test protocols, and Detailed test cases from system requirements
- Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing of embedded hardware/software systems.
- Experience troubleshooting defects, performing root cause analysis, and validating fixes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using command-line tools for testing and debugging.
- Working knowledge of C and/or C#.
- Experience supporting regulated medical device products.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations and 510(k) submissions.
