Job Summary:   Programmers continue the development of Computers Unlimited’s software system, TIMS, adding new applications, improving existing features, and maintaining a quality product that is error-free in a cost-effective manner. The Business Intelligence Programmer will design, develop and maintain high quality business intelligence (BI) reporting solutions, support modernization efforts and evolving data technology stacks. This is an exempt position reporting to the manager of the applicable development group.  

Responsibilities & Duties: 

  • Design, develop, and deploy new Power BI reports and datasets based on business requirements.   Migrate and modernize existing reports into Power BI from legacy platforms.
  • Support BI data models and reporting by developing and maintaining SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.  Maintain documentation of report logic, data sources, and data transformations.
  • Optimize SQL performance and apply tuning techniques in multiple environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on reports to ensure expectations are being met.
  • Support evolution of BI solutions toward integration with Microsoft Fabric and modern data services.  
  • Plan and execute the migration of SSRS content to Power BI Reporting Services, maintaining & enhancing existing reports during the transition, converting reports where appropriate and trouble shooting and resolving related issues.
  • Meet deadlines and complete scheduled work within budget and allotted time.
  • Act as a resource assisting to resolve escalated customer issues and training other personnel.
  • Assist with the successful execution of the annual users group conference. Will attend/participate and may present and/or assist with development of presentations.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related degree that includes programming languages or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience with Power BI  report development, dataset design, and DAX expressions. Familiarity with Power BI Reporting Services (PBIRS) and legacy SSR environments preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL, including complex query development, stored procedures, and performance tuning.  Understanding of Microsoft Fabric or other modern BI/cloud data environments a plus.

Travel/Working Conditions This job will be performed in our Billings, Montana office location. At the discretion of the manager, the duties may also be performed fully remote from within one of the states we operate, or hybrid. Remote individuals will be expected to travel to the office in Montana at least once per year.

 Pay and Benefits:  The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 annually.  We offer a full benefits package including medical, dental and vision, life and disability benefits, paid time off and a 401k plan with Company match.
