What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Computer Networking Services of New Hampshire, LLC (CNS)?
Part-time, 12–15 hours a week. $25–$35 an hour. Hybrid — Hooksett, NH. Phone and email only — no travel, no evenings, no weekends.
You book the meetings. The owner and president close them.
About CNSComputer Networking Services of NH has provided managed IT services to New Hampshire businesses since 1996. We are a small, established firm with an exceptional client retention record — most of our clients have been with us for over a decade, and our engineers have been here twenty years.
We are not a startup, and we are not a call center.
We are looking for one experienced person to reopen a function this company was built on: reaching business owners and operations managers directly, starting a conversation, and setting up a meeting. You will not be closing sales. The owner and president handle those conversations personally. Your job is to get us in front of the right people.
What you'll be doing• Researching and building target lists of New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts businesses — primarily manufacturers, professional practices and non-profits in the 20 to 100 employee range.
• Writing and sending outbound email to owners, operations managers and office managers.
• Following up by phone — reaching the decision maker, having a real conversation, and understanding whether there's a problem we can solve.
• Booking qualified introductory meetings for the owner and president.
• Keeping records current in our CRM (Pipedrive) so we know what was said and when.
• Telling us what you're hearing. What objections come up, what resonates, what's a dead end. You'll be closer to the market than anyone else here.
What we're looking for• Two or more years of business-to-business outbound experience — appointment setting, inside sales, or business development — with a track record you can talk through. Experience selling recurring services (managed IT, telecom, copiers, payroll, insurance, merchant services) is a plus; the sales motion is the same.
• The ability to write a four-sentence email that gets a reply.
• Genuine comfort on the phone with senior people. You'll be talking to a plant manager or a practice owner, not a consumer.
• The judgment to hear a business problem in a conversation and know it's worth a meeting.
• Self-direction. You'll be working largely unsupervised, and we'll measure results, not hours logged.
You do not need a technical background. We'll teach you what we sell.
All equipment and systems provided.
This role is deliberately part-time. We would rather have twelve focused hours from the right person than forty from the wrong one.
If this goes well, there is room for it to grow.
How to apply
Email your resume to "info@cnservicesllc.com" with the subject line "BDR — [your name]," and include brief answers to these three questions:
- Describe a specific time you got past a gatekeeper to reach a decision maker. What did you actually say?
- Write the four-sentence cold email you would send to the owner of a 40-person manufacturing company you know nothing else about, introducing an IT services firm.
- What kind of business have you had the most success reaching by phone, and why do you think that is?
We read every application and reply to everyone.
