What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing and Communication Specialist position at Computer Information & Planning, Inc.?
Marketing & Communications Specialist
Computer Information & Planning, Inc. (CIP) — Jacksonville, FL | On-Site | Full-Time
About CIP
CIP is a Jacksonville-based legal technology company founded in 1982. We build and host mission-critical software used by agencies in the Criminal System across Florida.
Our products sit at the center of how agencies manage cases, finances, and operations. We’ve earned our position through long-term relationships and reliability.
We’re now investing in how we communicate that value — clearly, consistently, and at a higher level.
The Role
This is not a “content calendar” role.
This is a translation role — turning real product capabilities into clear, useful communication for people who rely on our systems every day.
You’ll work directly with senior leadership and our internal teams to understand what’s being built, what’s changing, and why it matters — then communicate that in a way that clients and prospects actually understand.
You don’t need to be technical, but you need to understand the basics about software development.
But you do need to be sharp enough to ask the right questions and persistent enough to get real answers.
If you need structure, constant direction, or detailed instructions, this won’t work.
What You’ll Do
- Turn product updates and enhancements into clear, client-facing communication (emails, announcements, one-pagers, release notes)
- Write case studies, client communications, and long-form content for a professional audience
- Ensure consistency across all outward-facing materials — proposals, decks, presentations
- Support business development with messaging that actually resonates with decision-makers
- Help plan and execute communications for our annual user conference
- Own CIP’s LinkedIn presence — not just posting, but shaping how we show up
- Help us reach out to new clients and new markets
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or content — ideally in B2B or software
- Strong writer who can explain complex topics clearly and concisely
- Comfortable interviewing subject matter experts and extracting what actually matters
- High ownership mindset — you take initiative and follow things through
- Organized and reliable — deadlines are met without reminders
- Comfortable working directly with leadership
Nice to have:
- Experience in govtech, legal-tech, or other structured/regulated environments
- Product marketing or client communications background
- Experience with CRM or marketing tools
- Event or conference coordination experience
Why CIP
- Direct access to decision-makers — no layers
- Real influence on how a 40 year company presents itself
- Work tied to real-world impact in the justice system
- Stable, profitable company with long-term clients
- External brand strategy support already in place
Important Notes
- This is an on-site role in Jacksonville, FL
- This role requires independence and accountability
Legal Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be able to pass a background check for government contract work.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- Employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision
- 401k with match
- PTO and paid holidays
- Educational expense reimbursement
- The opportunity to work on systems that genuinely matter to Florida's justice system
Final Thought (this matters more than anything above)
If you’re the kind of person who reads something vague, asks better questions than everyone else, and turns it into something clear and useful — you’ll do well here.
If not, you won’t enjoy this role.
