AI Architect - Databricks

Location: Foster City, CA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 12 month initial contract
Pay: $100-$120/hour W2

Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise AI and Generative AI solutions. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can work closely with business stakeholders, architects, data teams, and engineering teams to transform AI concepts into production-ready solutions.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with AWS Cloud, Amazon Bedrock, Databricks, Databricks Genie, and modern AI/LLM technologies. This person will be responsible for designing scalable AI architectures, evaluating use cases, selecting the right models and frameworks, and driving AI implementations from concept through deployment.

This is not a purely strategy-focused role. We are looking for someone who is highly technical, enjoys building solutions, and can guide engineering teams while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise AI and Generative AI solutions on AWS.
• Develop AI architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Lead the evaluation, design, and deployment of LLM-based applications and AI agents.
• Build solutions utilizing Amazon Bedrock and other cloud-native AI services.
• Architect and implement AI use cases leveraging Databricks and Databricks Genie.
• Partner with data engineering teams to prepare and optimize data pipelines for AI initiatives.
• Define best practices for AI governance, security, scalability, and responsible AI.
• Work directly with business stakeholders to identify AI opportunities and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Create proof-of-concepts, pilot programs, and production implementations.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during delivery.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools, and frameworks and recommend appropriate adoption strategies.
• Support AI-powered productivity solutions leveraging technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and enterprise assistants.

Required Qualifications

• 8 years of software engineering, cloud architecture, or solution architecture experience.
• 3 years architecting AI, ML, or Generative AI solutions.
• Strong AWS experience, including cloud-native architecture and deployment.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock.
• Experience designing and implementing GenAI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Experience with Databricks and Databricks Genie.
• Experience building AI applications using RAG, vector databases, embeddings, and prompt engineering techniques.
• Strong understanding of AI architecture, model selection, governance, and deployment patterns.
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading AI initiatives from concept through production deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot implementations.
• Experience with AI agents and multi-agent architectures.
• Experience with MLOps and model lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of AI security, compliance, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Experience in highly regulated enterprise environments.
