Description:
The CNC Lathe Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain CNC turning equipment to produce precision-machined parts according to engineering specifications and production schedules. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working in a manufacturing environment focused on quality and efficiency.
- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines for production runs and prototype work
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, inserts, fixtures, and machine offsets
- Perform machine programming edits at the control as needed
- Monitor machine performance and inspect parts to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make process adjustments to maintain quality standards
- Maintain proper documentation for production, quality, and maintenance records
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
- Collaborate with management, quality, and production teams to improve processes and reduce downtime
- Perform other duties as required in support of machine uptime and production throughput
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical training or machinist certification preferred
- 2 years of CNC lathe machining experience preferred
- Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes and live tooling
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Strong understanding of machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and materials
- Experience with tight tolerance machining
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment accurately
