Virtualization Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer to lead migration and deployment initiatives across Microsoft Azure and Nutanix environments.

This role involves managing virtualization platforms, optimizing cloud architecture, and ensuring secure, efficient infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate workloads to M365 and remaining servers/applications from VMware to Microsoft Azure.
• Deploy Nutanix virtual environments for Data Center systems and replace remote office VMware environments with Nutanix systems.
• Review and develop architecture plans for Nutanix and Azure in collaboration with vendors.
• Coordinate migration activities with internal SMEs and vendor architects.
• Provide technical guidance and resources to IT teams; escalate critical issues impacting production systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for system issues.
• Lead design discussions, research solutions, and recommend best practices for mission-critical systems.
• Develop automation using tools such as Ansible and Python to streamline tasks.
• Ensure designs meet security best practices and optimize systems for performance and cost efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours maintenance/support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in Microsoft Azure and Windows system administration.
• Hands-on experience with Nutanix software and hardware.
• Advanced knowledge of:
• Security principles for Azure, Nutanix, M365, and AVD.
• Virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, AVD).
• Cloud architecture (Azure and AWS).
• M365 architecture including Purview, Microsoft Defender/Sentinel.
• Solid understanding of Azure networking design principles.
• Minimum 2 years of technical implementation experience with storage technologies (SAN, FCP/iSCSI, NAS).
• Thorough understanding of networking technologies and security methodologies (ACLs, firewalls, VPNs, OSI layers 4–7).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Python).
• Familiarity with enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead projects and collaborate across IT teams.
