Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist I to manage the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies, and services of a specialized or complex nature. This role ensures compliance with purchasing policies and procedures while designing and implementing cost-effective strategies to support organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy and efficiency.
- Recommend improvements in requisition processing and monitor change orders.
- Investigate and develop sources of supply.
- Prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests, and manage formal bid invitations or requests for proposals.
- Receive, analyze, and evaluate bids, quotes, and proposals.
- Select and award vendors to procure requisitioned commodities.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and contract administration.
- Ability to evaluate bids and negotiate vendor agreements.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience in designing cost-effective purchasing strategies.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement software systems.
