JOB SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting analytical testing on process and finished product samples to ensure quality and compliance with regulatory standards. This role supports plant operations through data analysis, process monitoring, equipment calibration, and accurate documentation using laboratory systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and test process and finished product samples using lab instruments and wet chemistry methods
- Perform routine process monitoring tests across the plant
- Record and document test results accurately using LIMS and other systems
- Maintain retained samples for verification and quality checks
- Notify operations of any deviations and recommend adjustments to maintain product quality
- Enter, analyze, and report data using computerized systems
- Perform basic maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies and notify supervisor for replenishment
- Ensure accuracy of equipment by comparing with standard samples
- Maintain clean and organized lab environment
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE
- Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards
- Collaborate with operations and team members to support production quality
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of laboratory testing and quality control processes
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to use computers and standard software (Excel, Word)
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping ability
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of science-related education or degree
- Experience in laboratory or plant environment
- Familiarity with LIMS and lab documentation practices
- Experience with lab equipment such as pH meters, balances, and spectrophotometers
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Certifications:
Safety certifications as required by employer
