Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Skin Quality Inspector to assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision structural and system components. This role requires working from engineering drawings, process specifications, and quality control requirements to ensure compliance with established standards. The inspector will perform functional testing, verify fit, form, and function of assemblies, and support continuous product flow in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision structural components.
- Perform functional testing and ensure assemblies meet engineering specifications.
- Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work instructions, and electronic documentation.
- Use shop mathematics and precision measuring/test instruments to complete assignments.
- Utilize tooling in the assembly of components into sub-assemblies or end items.
- Verify work performed meets process and engineering specifications; identify discrepancies.
- Ensure equipment and tool certification compliance.
- Perform routine minor machine maintenance (filters, bulbs, lubrication, coolant levels).
- Move products within the manufacturing area using shop-assigned equipment.
- Support continuous product flow by training and assisting employees at all classification levels.
- Assist in training assembly personnel in installation and inspection techniques.
- Cross-train in inspection and obtain SIA qualification.
- Perform hand finishing operations, blending adjacent surfaces into engineering tolerances.
- Conduct drilling and disassembly to access repair areas.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in skin quality inspection, including hand forming, burnishing, and repair.
- Experience performing protective coatings, metal polishing, and isoscope operations.
- Ability to perform hand finishing operations to meet engineering tolerances.
- Experience with drilling and disassembly for repair access.
- Ability to stand and work for an entire 8-hour shift.
- Availability to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance.
- Must clear background checks and Boeing re-hire checks (if previously employed).
- Flexibility to work 2nd shift primarily, with readiness for any shift, overtime, or weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced aircraft inspection and repair techniques.
- Familiarity with Boeing production processes and standards.
Certifications
- Maintain required certifications and qualifications (e.g., SLS, BAC, Nadcap, AS9100, crane operation, sealer, liquid nitrogen handling, vehicle operations).
