Job Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) supports clinical operations by providing patient care, recording vital signs, assisting with examinations, and performing laboratory duties such as blood draws and sample collection. This role ensures accurate documentation in patient records, maintains sterilization standards, and provides patient education in areas such as Primary Care and Pediatrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Prepare patients for examinations, record medical history and vital signs, and assist clinicians during exams.
- Laboratory/Procedures: Perform blood draws, collect urine/stool samples, and conduct EKGs.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain, prepare, and clean exam rooms; update patient records in electronic health systems.
- Patient Support: Educate patients and families on preventive care and medication, while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a medical assistant training program (often required).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with pediatric or primary care workflows
- Certifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred or required for higher-level roles.
