Job Description:

A Health Care Associate (HIM Technician) at Client maintains patient data accuracy, security, and confidentiality, often using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities include scanning, analyzing, and auditing medical records, ensuring HIPAA compliance, managing record storage/retrieval, and assisting clinical staff with documentation.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Medical Record Management: Assembles, scans, and abstracts medical records to ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation.
• Data Integrity & Privacy: Ensures all patient information is maintained securely, upholding strict HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality.
• Information Processing: Processes requests for information from providers, clinics, and outside agencies.
• Systems Proficiency: Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) systems and manages record indices.
• Clerical Support: Transcribes data, updates demographic information, and assists with clinic administrative tasks.

Key Requirements

• Communication Skills: Demonstrates excellent oral and written skills to interact with staff and patients.
• Compliance: Adheres to patient privacy laws, professional growth requirements, and mandatory in-services.
• Education: Typically requires a high school diploma, with HIM certification or related experience often preferred for technical roles.
