Position Summary:
The Supervisor Core Technical is responsible for the operation of second and third shift Core Lab functions to include Chemistry and Hematology. The Supervisor directly supervises the second and third shift technical team. The Supervisor also assists in coordination of all training and competency for Chemistry and Hematology. In addition, this role works in close conjunction with the Manager of Core Lab Operations to assist with day to day operations and business decisions. Position will be approximately 50% management duties and 50% bench work.

Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for second- and third-shift technical staff, including scheduling, bench assignments, and rotation to maintain competency.
- Maintain competency on all benches and perform bench duties ~50% of the time; provide weekend coverage as needed.
- Assist with managing departmental budgets, quality assurance activities, improvement initiatives, and compliance for Core Lab Operations.
- Ensure continual CAP inspection readiness; participate in inspections and coordinate Chemistry CAP Proficiency Testing and related investigations.
- Coordinate training and competency assessments for Chemistry and Hematology; support professional development and oversight of staff performance.
- Serve as departmental point person for Infinity/Sunquest/DI systems and perform weekly Chemistry QC review.
- Provide clear, consistent communication through meetings, scorecards, memos, CE, and follow-ups.
- Support staff selection, evaluation, development, mentoring, and corrective actions; ensure timely completion of company documents (timecards, reviews, training, RCA, LMS training).
- Contribute to organizational management through collaboration, project work, and support of sales staff.
- Prepare monthly reports on quality, productivity, and projects.
- Provide technical consultation to client hospitals, labs, physician offices, and industry partners.
- Maintain and update department procedure manuals in accordance with document control processes.
- Participate in teaching students, technologists, medical trainees, and fellows.
- Promote a strong safety culture by complying with all safety policies and participating actively in departmental safety programs.
- Develop and maintain professional external contacts and encourage process and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science or CLIA accepted science degree.
- 2-3 years of demonstrated success and experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility in a medical lab environment. Integrity and accuracy in decision-making and judgment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
- Good computer skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
- Schedule flexibility required for meetings and employee interactions on second and third shifts.
- Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
- Maintain visual acuity and hand–finger dexterity for extended computer work; able to sit at a computer or stand at a laboratory workstation for long periods.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions; sustain concentration without distraction.
- Demonstrate integrity and accuracy in test performance and result reporting; remain calm in stressful situations.
- Work safely with biohazard materials and hazardous chemicals, adhering to all company safety, ergonomic, health, and PPE requirements.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations on time, identify and address safety hazards, and promote safety awareness.
