ABOUT THE Division
General description
We’re looking for an experienced senior-level Geographic Information System Analyst to join our team in the Information Technology division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and performing advance -level analysis, development, and deployment of GIS solutions for both internal business divisions as well as public facing sites. Your day-to-day will involve every aspect of leading the Comptroller of Public Account’s Geographic Information Systems team, managing a modern enterprise GIS system, and oversee of geospatial technology strategy and solutions. This position will be part of a team of people who are collaborative, adaptable, and dedicated to delivering highly secure, best in class solutions. You would be a great fit for this role if you’re a dynamic, self-motivated individual that can estimate and deliver project tasks in an Agile environment, all while working with a variety of teams.
Work Hours
8-hour work schedule between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday with occasional work schedule variance as necessary. May occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holiday. Hours may change based on business need.
Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office one day/month, three days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
- Seven (7) years of experience in geographic information systems analysis and design work
- Experience with team lead or project lead.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, geography, geographic information systems technology, management information systems or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience working with ArcGIS Pro desktop software, ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online.
Substitutions:
One (1) additional year of experience performing geographic information systems and design work may substitute for thirty (30) semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
Licenses/Certifications (Preferred):
GISP (Certified GIS Professional)
In this role you will:
- Oversees and/or creates and modifies maps, graphs, or diagrams, using geographical information software and related equipment including those of high complexity.
- Oversees and/or performs the identification, gathering, and compiling of required geographic data from sources including censuses, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
- Oversees the creation, development, or modification of programs, user interfaces, menus, and macro-level commands to meet user needs.
- Plans strategies to improve the geographic information systems and consults with other entities regarding the coordination of resources.
- Coordinates and helps oversee the uploading of map files to agency websites with Web Team members and other agency personnel.
- Provides customer service, troubleshooting problems associated with GIS solutions
- May lead team work or supervise the work of others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
