THE POSITION
The Compton Community College District is seeking an innovative individual for a part time coaching assignment in physical education for Compton College. The coach will be employed as coach and instructor of record for the in-season and off-season conditioning classes. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.

Master's degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education OR
Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy OR
Possess a valid California Community College instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355) OR
The equivalent- Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above, must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above.
Have sensitivity to and understanding of multi-cultural, diverse environments and college students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (for coaching only)
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in the discipline and any certificate or license required to do that work OR Any Associate's degree and 6 years of experience AND any certificate or license required to do that work.
Note: coaches without the Master's degree are limited to coaching during the in-season and off-season course of that sport. These coaches may not teach physical education classes.

Community college teaching experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in an athletic facility and field, and a standard office setting, and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials, a computer screen, and to view, assess, and determine coaching decisions; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Must possess the ability to oversee practices and games in varying weather and field conditions. When working in an office, standing in and walking between work areas is occasionally required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and close to retrieve and file information. Positions in this classification may also stand for extended periods of time in the course of directing operations. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 25 pounds. The essential functions of this classification must be performed by the incumbents with or without reasonable accommodation.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Employees work mainly in an outdoor environment and is occasionally exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, and varying weather conditions. Employees may interact with upset individuals in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
HOURLY RANGE: $47.36 - $82.90 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

Part time teaching assignment(s).
