Location: Sugar Land

Work Hours: 8 am- 5 pm

Position Summary

Candidates will be trained in this position on how to carry out the job duties. The role involves dispensing, sets up, and provides instruction to patients on the proper use of equipment such as CPAP, Bi-PAP, and other complex equipment, and ensuring that patients can effectively operate and maintain equipment.

Experience with inventory control, sales, customer service, patient care technician, and medical office coordinator will be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate EXCEPTIONAL patient care which is the heart of our medical practice.
  • Answer incoming calls, check messages, and return calls in a timely manner.
  • Perform positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
  • Setup patients with new DME equipment.
  • Issue DME supplies to patients from clinic visits and walk-in.
  • Scan products in and out of the inventory control system.
  • Schedule follow-up visits for future supplies.
  • Ship out supplies as requested.
  • Call in equipment for repairs or warranty exchanges.
  • Obtain benefits, pre-certifications, authorizations, and enter information in the account notes in EHR as needed.
  • Review any amount owed if patient needs to make a payment, must collect co-pays/ deductibles over the phone and in person.
  • Cleaning equipment after each procedure.
  • Use of EMR system to input notes pertaining to patients.
  • Inventory and handling resupply.
  • Submit charges for all supplies in a timely manner to the billing department.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management to increase provider effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction.
  • Cross-training in other departments is required.

Education/Licensure/Certifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associates degree preferred.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in the Healthcare Industry and working in Private Practice are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to achieve goals and exceed expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills are necessary.
  • Must be HIPAA compliant. Training will be provided.
  • Experience in inventory, retail, and sales preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel is required.
  • Detail-oriented and effective organizational skills are required.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred but not required.

  • The employee must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds durable medical equipment and supplies.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
