Essential Functions*:

  • Provide patient care in orthotic soft goods.
  • Evaluate selected orthotic needs of patients.
  • Measure, fit and adjust devices.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation of patient care provided.
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Subject to limitations imposed by state and/or local law.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide patient follow-up for selected patients.
  • Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Hand skills are necessary to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of biomechanical principles.
  • Knowledge of sewing techniques.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills for reporting information to patients and staff.
  • Ability to discern individual needs of the patient.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and plan for the purpose of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a workday/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a workday/shift.
  • Visual acuity (near and distant) is sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
  • Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility.
  • Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment.
  • Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
