Epic Applications Analyst
Position Summary
The Epic Applications Analyst is responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, and support of Epic electronic medical record (EMR) applications. This role works closely with clinical and operational stakeholders along with the HHC community partnership team to understand workflow needs, translate them into system functionality, and ensure the EMR supports efficient, safe, and compliant patient care. The analyst is a key member of the EMR team and plays a critical role in maintaining system stability and advancing organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
System Build & Configuration
- Design, configure, and maintain Epic application components according to organizational requirements and Epic best practices.
- Build and modify system workflows, rules, templates, SmartTools, security, and system dictionaries.
- Participate in new module implementations, upgrades, and ongoing optimization efforts.
Analysis & Workflow Support
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and operational departments to gather requirements and improve workflows.
- Work closely with the HHC dedicated team
- Analyze current processes and recommend enhancements that improve efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
- Assist departments with issue resolution, enhancement requests, and system training needs.
Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute test scripts for system upgrades, new functionality, and interfaces.
- Participate in integrated testing with other Epic teams and external systems.
- Validate that system build meets business requirements and functions as expected.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for end users, service desk escalations, and system issues.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for proactive improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation for build, workflows, and support processes.
Project Participation
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned Epic modules during organizational initiatives, implementations, and strategic projects.
- Manage work independently while communicating status updates to project leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Epic certification or accreditation in assigned application(s), or the ability to obtain certification within required timelines.
- 2 years of Epic experience (application build, support, or optimization).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Understanding of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements (HIPAA, Joint Commission), and clinical workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple Epic modules (Ambulatory, Cadence, PB, HB, Radiant, Beacon, MyChart, etc.).
- Prior experience in a hospital, ambulatory practice, or large healthcare system.
- Experience with project management methodologies.
- Proficiency with SQL, reporting tools (Clarity, SlicerDicer), or interface technologies (HL7, APIs) is a plus.
Work Environment
- Onsite
- May require occasional evenings or weekends for system changes, upgrades or go-lives.
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
