Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Authorization Specialist to join our team. As an Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations for medical procedures and services, specifically Physical Therapy. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that patients receive the necessary care while complying with insurance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain and verify insurance authorizations for medical procedures and services
- Communicate with insurance companies to gather necessary information and documentation
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather required information for authorization requests
- Maintain accurate records of authorization requests and approvals
- Follow up on pending authorizations and escalate any issues or delays
- Stay up-to-date with insurance guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, and HIPAA regulations
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
