Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software ensuring compliance with health insurance policies.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts.
- Coordinate surgical scheduling, preoperative documentation, and post-operative billing processes to streamline patient care workflows.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with medical coding guidelines and privacy regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and revenue cycle management best practices to improve billing efficiency.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Experience with medical billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and electronic health record management for billing and coding.
- Proficiency in health insurance claim processing, third-party billing, and revenue cycle management.
- Familiarity with medical office operations, including medical records management and insurance verification processes.
- Ability to interpret medical coding guidelines for inpatient services and outpatient procedures accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims and documentation tasks efficiently.
