We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part Time Peer Support Specialist to join our behavioral health team. This role is vital in providing peer-led support to individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will serve as a trusted advocate, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support to promote recovery and well-being.
Duties
- Provide peer support through active listening, mentorship, and sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
- Assist clients in developing recovery goals and connecting them with appropriate community resources and services.
- Implement harm reduction strategies and motivational interviewing techniques to support clients’ progress toward stability.
- Facilitate group activities and educational sessions focused on mental health, addiction recovery, and wellness strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions using electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting client confidentiality.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans for individuals with co-occurring disorders or substance use issues.
- Engage with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive support that respects individual backgrounds and experiences.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations through crisis management and intervention skills, ensuring safety for clients and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- · A Certified Peer Specialist must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and applicable training and testing as required by the Department of Mental Health
- Be supervised by a qualified mental health professional as defined in Code of State Regulations.
- Reliable transportation.
- Preferrable to already be a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
