Key Responsibilities:
Install and commission DX systems: refrigerant piping, air handlers, condensers, thermostats, and drain lines
Pressure test, evacuate, and charge systems with refrigerant
Wire controls, relays, disconnects, and thermostats
Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
Set rooftop units using cranes/lifts and ensure proper leveling
Insulate and test refrigerant lines for leak-free performance
Follow all safety, quality, and environmental protocols on-site
Core Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of HVAC components (compressors, coils, TXVs/EEVs, controls)
Familiarity with refrigerant cycle and EPA-compliant handling
Knowledge of NEC, IMC, and jobsite safety standards (PPE, fall protection, LOTO)
Proficient with tools: gauges, multimeters, leak detectors, vacuums, recovery machines
Basic understanding of controls and system start-up procedures (AHUs, pumps, etc.)
Requirements:
EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal)
3 years' experience installing DX HVAC systems
Valid Florida Driver's License & insurable under company policy
Ability to work independently and coordinate with foremen, GCs, and other trades
Comfortable training or supporting apprentices
Preferred:
OSHA 10 Certification
Factory training/start-up certifications
Familiarity with CHW/HHW systems
Work Conditions:
Indoor/outdoor construction sites across Florida
Heat, cold, heights, and noisy environments
Occasional overtime or weekend work
Must wear required PPE
