Job Description: Psychiatric Prescriber (Psychiatrist)
-Position Summary
This is a correctional facility looking for a board-certified Psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist is expected to provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical oversight to individuals incarcerated within a Kentucky correctional facility. The psychiatrist is responsible for providing clinically appropriate, evidence-based mental health services while working within the unique safety, security, legal, and operational requirements of a correctional environment.
The psychiatrist collaborates with licensed mental health professionals, nursing staff, medical providers, correctional staff, and facility leadership to ensure continuity of care and promote the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals, staff, and the facility.
The position requires sound clinical judgment, knowledge of correctional mental health practices, effective communication with custody personnel, and the ability to balance patient care with institutional safety and security requirements. Compensation will vary depending on experience and expertise.

Supervises: Mental health team for medication consultation
-Qualifications
Education and Licensure
· Psychiatrist (MD/DO with psychiatry residency)
Experience
· 2 years psychiatric practice
Required Certifications
· BLS; ACLS preferred
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
· Psychopharmacology
· Kentucky controlled substance prescribing
-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
· Evaluate and prescribe psychotropic medications
· Monitor side effects (metabolic, EPS, AIMS)
· Provide emergency psychotropic medication orders per policy
· Consult on complex MH cases
· Ability to provide supervision to psychiatric NP/PA
Kentucky
· Maintain Kentucky licensure and DEA registration
