Description
Experience:
- Minimum of one year acute care experience within the last two years
- Procedural Sedation experience preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current California RN license or interim permit
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification or within 6 months of hire
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform patient assessment addressing physical, psychological and social, cultural parameters
· Provide patient care under the California Board of Registered Nursing, Nursing Practice Act and AORN, Standards of Perioperative Nursing which are in line with AAAHC and CMS guidelines
· Provide patient and family education based on procedures, medications and post procedure care requirements
· Administer medications utilizing the 5 R's—right patient, right medication, right dose, right time and right route
· Document patient care, documentation is accurate, concise, and written timely. Helps with chart audits
· Obtain surgical consent from patient or authorized representative and educates patient on discharge instructions
· Provide effective pain management through assessment, administration of techniques in response to verbal and nonverbal signs & symptoms, and timely reassessment
· Assist in the preparation for surgical and special procedures cases by:
o Ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available
o Maintaining inventory and stock rooms
· Provide safe care based on the age-related needs of the adult, and geriatric patient, with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style, and level of understanding
· Provide care to the patient receiving procedural sedation
· Know and understand surgeons' preferences; familiar with procedures performed
· Assist with decontamination and maintains all equipment, instruments, and supplies and cleans surgical rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule as directed by procedure
· Stock and cleans rooms between cases and at the end of schedule.
· Assist with turnover of the O.R.
· Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization processes
· Provides pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative nursing care to the patient undergoing surgery procedures
· Assist as directed in the delivery of emergency care
· Maintain confidentiality of the patients' records and protects the patients' privacy
· Assist with all daily functions of the facility when directed
ALL AREAS:
- In-depth knowledge of nursing process in assessment of physical, psychosocial, and psychological needs of patients
- Aware of adult learning principles in providing teaching to patients and families
PRE-OP/POST-OP:
- Demonstrated skill in assessment and preparation of the preoperative patient including IV starts
- Demonstrated skill in assessing and facilitation of the immediate post-operative recovery phase of the post-anesthesia patient.
O.R.
- Demonstrated skill in providing intra-operative nursing care to the specialty service areas offered at the facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization processes.
- Ability to assist Anesthesia Provider, as needed
- Procedural Sedation
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary : $45 - $55
