Job Overview
The Quality Inspector or Technician contributes to the successful operation of the organization’s quality management system. This system assures that only compliant product is shipped to customers, and that in-plant scrap and rework are minimized. Requirements include having a complete understanding of inspection requirements and operations. Must be able to read drawings and interpret Engineering requirements related to drawings. Must be able to use all inspection and measurement equipment. The inspector will ensure that all required inspections are made and recorded for parts in process, re-work, and incoming materials/components, and approve parts for operations.
Duties include but limited to:
- Understand inspection requirements and operations
- Read and follow Job Travelers
- Understand and follow procedures for handling nonconforming products and for addressing corrective actions
- Understand and follow documentation and reporting requirements
- Can read measuring devices in both metric and English
- Capable of performing final visual inspection of product
- Perform inspection of finished product per instructions and the part drawing
- Once inspected, move parts or components to the next operation and/or inventory
- Complete and file all inspection reports as necessary and any NPR or ECR reports
- Follow schedule and work with shop supervisors and/or engineers daily to assess and correct any problems or address production issues that may arise.
Skills:
- Basic computer to view drawings and excel spreadsheets
- Good communications skills
- Understand blue prints, dimensioning and tolerances
Qualifications:
- Must have experience with calipers, micrometers, height gages, ping gates, etc. CMM bonus.
- High school degree or equivalent
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
