Overview
The Disassembly Technician is responsible for carefully tearing down aircraft components for inspection and repair. This includes cleaning, blasting, and preparing parts for further processing. The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and adherence to FAA repair station procedures.
Responsibilities
- Safely disassemble aircraft components such as actuators, landing gear parts, and hydraulic accessories.
- Use mineral spirits, solvents, and cleaning solutions to properly clean and prepare parts.
- Perform media blasting of components to remove coatings, corrosion, and contaminants.
- Tag, organize, and route parts to inspection or repair stations.
- Follow Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), technical instructions, and company procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation for all disassembly and cleaning processes.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Assist other technicians and departments as needed to support production flow.
Requirements
- Prior hands-on mechanical or shop experience required; aviation disassembly experience strongly preferred.
- Experience using solvents, blasting equipment, and cleaning processes in a shop environment.
- Ability to read and follow CMMs, technical manuals, and work instructions preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and adherence to safety standards.
- Must be comfortable working with chemicals, tools, and shop equipment.
- FAA repair station or aerospace/MRO background is a plus.
