Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Professional to support our Contractor Safety and Emergency Response programs. This role is ideal for an entry- to mid-level candidate with foundational knowledge in OSHA compliance, safety protocols, and incident preparedness. You will work closely with operations, contractors, and facility leadership to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
The position is on-site in Rockville, MD for three (3) days per week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
Contractor Safety Oversight
- Review, evaluate, and manage contractor safety documentation (JSAs, site-specific safety plans, permits).
- Conduct contractor orientations and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Perform periodic field audits and inspections of contractor activities.
- Emergency Response Program Support
- Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency action plans (EAPs).
- Coordinate emergency drills and post-drill evaluations.
- Participate in incident investigations and support root cause analysis for emergency-related events.
General Safety Support
- Conduct safety audits, walkthroughs, and hazard identification assessments.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 standards.
- Collaborate with other EHS personnel to ensure continuous improvement in safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Public Health, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 1–5 years of relevant EHS experience (internships and field experience acceptable for entry-level candidates).
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and interface with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (General Industry or Construction).
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Experience in contractor oversight or emergency planning in facility or construction environments.
- BCSP certifications (e.g., STS, GSP) are a plus but not required.
