CompleteRx is collaborating with Northern Maine Medical Center to recruit candidates for a full-time Pharmacy Technician position located in Fort Kent, Maine.

NMMC provides acute health services to families around the St. John Valley as a 49-bed hospital. NMMC also encompasses Forest Hill Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center, a 45-bed skilled nursing and rehab facility, and 7 health centers strategically located in the area.
Essential Functions
- Assists the Pharmacist in providing medication, patient drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients.
- Rotate through all work areas of pharmacy.
- Repacking bulk medications.
- Unit dosing.
- Transport medications, restock drug delivery devices.
- Screen telephone calls.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and reorders them accordingly.
- Aids in the training of Pharmacy Technician students or new employees.
- Prepares select reports as needed/directed.
- Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
- Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
- Performs all aspects of medication dispensing in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Maintains the Pharmacy Department in a clean and orderly manner.
- Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various orders and prescriptions.
- Performs assigned quality control activities on schedule.
- Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationships within the department and with other departments.
- Shows the ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Ability to function as a team player.
- Keeps patient safety on the forefront at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates good communication skills.
- Follow policies and procedures on patient and employee safety as set forth by the Pharmacist in Charge.
Education, Training, and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Maine State Pharmacy Technician License
- Acquires Pharmacy Technician Certification after 6 months of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Traits
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely and effectively, listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Automated pharmacy systems (preferred).
- Must be motivated and demonstrate the ability to function in a fast paced, changing team environment.
- Performs other pharmacy-related duties as requested or required.
Professional Requirements
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and protects employee from exposure to body fluids while working in various units.
- Completes annual education requirements in required time frames.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, and adheres to Maine State Board of Pharmacy regulations, Chapter 7 as it applies to the practice of pharmacy technicians.
- Licensure as a pharmacy technician.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, and starts work as scheduled.
- Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Attends at least 80% of pharmacy meetings annually.
- Complies with all organizational policies.
