Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Support clients during medical procedures such as patient transfer methods using Hoyer lifts or other manual handling techniques.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Document care activities thoroughly in client records, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with team members about client progress.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous.
- Ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of medical emergencies.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in medication administration or hospice care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks; experience with patient transfer methods is beneficial.
