Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Forklift Mechanic to join our maintenance team. THIS IS NOT A FORKLIFT OPERATING JOB! You will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of Material Handling Equipment, including forklifts and some industrial machinery. Experienced mechanics only! Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on forklifts and other industrial machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and electrical issues using schematics, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals, and diagnostic tools to identify root causes efficiently.
- Repair and replace components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulics, hydraulic cylinders, brakes and electrical systems on various forklift types.
- Conduct fabrication tasks including possible welding, soldering, and assembly of parts or custom modifications as needed.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely to perform repairs or adjustments on forklifts and industrial equipment.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs performed.
- Support equipment upgrades and modifications to improve safety standards or operational efficiency.
- Maintain company provided vehicle and perform maintenance oil changes and repairs as needed. (company provides filters and oil and any parts)
- Maintain company vehicle inventory and keep van washed and presentable
- Have and maintain tools and toolbox for necessary repairs. (specialty tools compression / pressure tester provided by company)
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a mechanic and mobile service technician on forklifts and industrial equipment.
- Forklift Dealership experience highly preferred; familiarity with OEM parts and specifications is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across electric forklifts, LPG engines, diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, forklift brakes, hydraulic hoses, hydraulics and electrical components.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and utilize diagnostic tools effectively for troubleshooting.
- Skilled in welding, fabrication, soldering, and assembly techniques using various hand tools and power tools.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance procedures is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments safely; experience with tire presses is beneficial.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report / Clean driving record is required
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm Holidays paid off (after 90 day review)
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
