Description

 

1. GENERAL

a. Contact immediate supervisor (Professional Manager, COO, Braun Home Office) in the event of illness or emergency. If your absence will affect adequate staffing patterns, arrangements must be made for coverage.

b. Arrange for vacation or leave time at least one month in advance to obtain coverage and approval. Only the Assistant Administrator can approve any leave requests for Home manager.

2. TRAINING

a. Complete orientation checklist when training new employees.

b. Complete mandatory training annually or as required.

i. CPR and First Aide

ii. CPI

iii. Abuse/Neglect

iv. Positive Behavioral Support

v. Missouri Quality Outcomes

vi. Obtain the Level One Medication Aid (LIMA) certification prior to administering medications.

c. Schedule staff meetings on a regular basis (quarterly) and encourage direct contact staff to provide input regarding client behaviors, concerns, suggestions, etc.

3. STAFF RELATIONS

a. Adopt a team approach and utilize the chain of command as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manual.

b. Avoid discussing personal, staff, or client problems/conflicts in the presence of clients or of the people you supervise.

4. CLIENT CARE

a. Provide support for each person we serve to whatever extent necessary to ensure health, cleanliness, and safety (i.e. assists, supervise, or monitor bathing, hygiene, eating, outing, behaviors, etc.)

b. Always maintain client confidentiality.

c. Coordinate transportation for each client when needed as well as scheduling all appointments for each client.

d. Be familiar with client rights and how to support the individual’s dignity, respect and right to self-determination, self-expression, and personal choice.

e. Observe, report, and record changes in clients physical condition, behaviors, and emotional.

5. SUPERVISION

a. Supervise direct contact staff as the opportunity and need arise, giving prompts, suggestions, and feedback as required.

b. Maintain a master calendar for all IP’s scheduled training, consumer appointments, work or day program schedules, and staffing patterns.

c. On occasion that an employee’s behavior is inappropriate, you will be responsible for notifying the Professional Manager and assist with writing an Employee Warning notice describing the violation.

d. Supervise the implementation of behavioral support strategies (see policy)

e. Supervise the implementation of the IP objectives and recording of, working with the Professional Manager.

f. Conduct an inspection of the home at least once each week to inventory repair or maintenance needs and report to Professional Manager.

g. Assign daily cleaning responsibilities for each shift to ensure home’s cleanliness.

h. Monitor all appliances, heating and cooling equipment, and agency automobiles and report to Professional Manager for needed repairs/maintenance.

i. Ensure proper EMTs are completed and notification of Professional Manager, responsible parties, family, and Service Coordinator if needed.

6. ADMINISTRATIVE

a. Establish and post staffing schedules with Professional Manager approval.

b. Compile materials for monthly or quarterly reviews.

c. Attend client’s IP meeting.

7. MEDICAL

a. Arrange transportation for all medical appointments for clients and report outcome and follow up recommendations within one working day to nurse or Professional Manager.

b. Notify the nurse or Professional Manager of any medical emergency hospitalization, medication change, or hospital discharge.

c. Monitor for medication side-effects and report symptoms to nurse or Professional Manager that may be medication related.

d. Notify the nurse of any medical needs and submit a copy of the physician visit forms, physician recommendations, etc. within one working day following the appointment.

e. Medication Reorder Process

1. The Home Manager (HM) and Professional Manager (PM) will together complete a Medication (Monthly) Check Form by the 5th of each month. Any scheduled medication with 0 refills as well as all PRN’s, powders, liquids, and topicals needing to be reordered will be identified.

2. Immediately after completing the checklist, the Home Manager will submit the applicable pharmacy’s Order Sheet requesting the needed refills. The Order Sheet will be attached to the Medication (Monthly) Check Form.

3. In cases where a new Physician Order (PO) must be secured for a refill to be processed, the HM will document in daily observation notes on THERAP the pharmacy staff spoken with and the agreed upon process for communicating with the applicable MD.

4. The HM will confirm that the new PO was received by the pharmacy, and the med will be available at the next scheduled pick up.

5. Any difficulties encountered by the HM when reordering medication will be documented on the Medication (Monthly) Check Form and submitted to the PM for resolution no later than the 10th of the same month.
