About CFM Global

CFM Global is a manufacturer of innovative filtration products for HVAC and industrial spray booth applications. Our history has reshaped the filter market—and our future will continue to raise the bar. We value skilled tradespeople who take pride in keeping production running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Position Summary

Complete Filter Media, LLC is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to support our poly and glass production operations. This position is responsible for performing in-process and finished-product quality inspections to ensure materials meet company specifications, customer requirements, and established quality standards.

The Quality Assurance Technician will spend the majority of the workday on the production floor working closely with Production, Maintenance, Shipping, and Management. This individual will inspect and test materials throughout the manufacturing process, identify nonconforming product, document quality issues, assist with root-cause investigations, and help ensure corrective actions are implemented.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, making objective quality decisions, communicating concerns to production personnel and management, and maintaining accurate quality records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quality inspections on polyester/poly and glass-fiber media throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Inspect incoming materials, work-in-process material, and finished products for compliance with established specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform and document required physical measurements and quality tests, which may include:
  • Material width and length
  • Thickness/caliper
  • Basis weight or material weight
  • Roll weight
  • Visual appearance
  • Uniformity and consistency
  • Bonding or material integrity
  • Surface defects
  • Contamination
  • Tears, holes, wrinkles, folds, or other physical defects
  • Core and roll condition
  • Packaging and labeling accuracy
  • Other product-specific testing as required
  • Obtain production samples at established intervals and accurately record test results.
  • Compare inspection and testing results against product specifications, work orders, customer requirements, and approved standards.
  • Identify, segregate, tag, and place nonconforming material on quality hold when required.
  • Notify Production Management promptly when material falls outside established specifications.
  • Assist production employees with identifying quality problems and determining appropriate corrective action.
  • Verify that adjustments made to production equipment or processes have corrected identified quality issues before affected production continues.
  • Conduct first-piece, start-up, changeover, in-process, and final inspections as required.
  • Review production paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify proper product identification, labels, packaging, quantities, and customer-specific requirements before product is released.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, quality logs, test results, hold documentation, and other required records.
  • Assist in investigating internal quality issues, customer complaints, rejected materials, and recurring defects.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Track recurring defects and communicate quality trends to management.
  • Assist with developing and updating quality inspection procedures, testing requirements, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Support calibration and verification of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Ensure gauges, scales, measuring devices, and other quality equipment are functioning properly and within required calibration periods.
  • Assist with internal quality audits and customer quality requirements when necessary.
  • Work with Production and Maintenance to identify process or equipment conditions contributing to product defects.
  • Communicate quality expectations to production employees and provide coaching regarding inspection standards and defect identification.
  • Maintain organized quality samples and retain samples when required.
  • Assist with traceability of raw materials and finished products when investigating quality concerns.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives designed to reduce scrap, rework, customer complaints, and production variation.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized quality work area.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Quality Authority

The Quality Assurance Technician is authorized to:

  • Identify and document potentially nonconforming material.
  • Place questionable product on Quality Hold pending review.
  • Request additional testing or inspection when product quality is uncertain.
  • Notify Production Management of out-of-specification conditions.
  • Recommend that production be temporarily stopped when continued operation could result in significant quantities of defective or nonconforming material.
  • Prevent product known to be nonconforming from being released for shipment without appropriate management review and authorization.

Final disposition of held or rejected material will be made in accordance with CFM's established quality procedures and management authority.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Basic math skills, including decimals, fractions, percentages, and unit conversions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify small variations or defects.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter inspection and testing information accurately.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized records.
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns professionally with production employees, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and management.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonwoven materials, textiles, filtration media, fiberglass, polyester fiber, converting, coating, laminating, or similar manufacturing.

  • Organization and documentation skills
  • Accountability

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction

Physical Requirements

This position works primarily in a manufacturing environment and requires the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently move throughout production areas.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and inspect materials and equipment at various heights.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other PPE required for specific production areas.

Work Environment

The Quality Assurance Technician will regularly work in an active manufacturing environment around operating machinery, production equipment, fiberglass and polyester materials, airborne fibers or particles, industrial noise, varying temperatures, and material-handling equipment.

The employee must comply with all CFM safety procedures and PPE requirements while working in production areas.
