Open Position: Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant
We are seeking a full-time phlebotomist / medical assistant with at least three years phlebotomy experience. In this role you will be supporting multiple concierge primary care physicians, each with a limited patient panel. A successful candidate will have excellent phlebotomy skills and will consistently deliver an extremely high level of caring and empathetic customer service. The schedule is M-F, 8am-4pm. Our office is located at Sibley Memorial Hospital, in the medical office building.
Qualifications – The skills and experience we need:
•Certification in phlebotomy preferred
•Completion of a formal MA program preferred
•Experience with EPIC preferred
•Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
•Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
•Well spoken, neatly dressed, punctual and professional always
•Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to follow-through, and high degree of comfort with computer applications, accuracy and speed with data entry
•Minimum of three years of prior experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology
•More important than the best skills, is the right person with the right attitude
Responsibilities – How you’ll contribute:
•Assist with all aspects of the clinical care of primary care patients in a concierge practice
•Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance, document everything appropriately in the medical record
•Order and maintain supplies for the office lab
•Ensure lab specimens are collected properly and are sent to proper labs
•Provide patient counseling, procedure teaching, communicate physician orders and instructions
•Perform procedures and diagnostic testing in office, including EKG, PFT, Ear irrigations, and others
•Administer injections and vaccines, document properly
•Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients
•Support and promote excellence in customer service
•Support and provide back up to administrative staff as needed by answering phones, sorting faxes, scheduling appts, and other duties as necessary
