Job Title: Integrated Systems TechnicianJob Summary
The Integrated Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of low-voltage systems including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), audio/video systems, and home or building automation solutions. This role requires hands-on technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team on commercial and residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, coax, speaker wire, control cable, fiber as needed)
- Install, mount, and configure access control systems including door hardware, controllers, readers, and power supplies
- Install, aim, and configure IP and analog camera systems (NVRs, VMS platforms, network setup)
- Install and configure audio/video systems including displays, projectors, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and control systems
- Assist with or perform programming and configuration of AV, security, and automation platforms
- Install and support home and building automation systems (lighting, climate, AV control, security integration)
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and client walkthroughs
- Troubleshoot and repair system issues related to cabling, devices, and configurations
- Maintain clean, organized, and code-compliant installations
- Read and interpret project plans, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
- Document installations, configurations, and service work
- Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and team members
- Follow safety standards, best practices, and company procedures
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in low-voltage, security, AV, or integrated systems (or equivalent technical background)
- Experience with access control, camera systems, and low-voltage cabling
- Working knowledge of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, PoE, switches)
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts safely
- Ability to work in ceilings, crawl spaces, and equipment racks
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background checks as required for security systems work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IP-based access control and video management systems
- Experience with AV control systems or home automation platforms
- Industry certifications (BICSI, ESA, NICET, AVIXA, manufacturer certs) a plus
- Experience working in commercial environments (offices, schools, healthcare, industrial)
- Familiarity with local low-voltage and life safety codes
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
