Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
• Provide emotional comfort and companionship to patients experiencing complex conditions such as dementia or memory care needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs, including those with Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive impairments.
• Maintain infection control standards by practicing proper aseptic techniques and managing infectious disease precautions diligently.

Requirements

• Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing.
• Prior experience working in hospice or palliative care environments preferred; experience with long-term care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), or behavioral health settings is highly valued.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
• Ability to work compassionately with individuals experiencing complex health issues such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or disabilities; experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques required for safe patient care.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments like hospital medicine or urgent care settings.
