Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager is a key leadership role at Compete Strength & Conditioning, serving as the right hand to the General Manager and the face of the facility. This person drives revenue, owns the client experience, and keeps daily operations running at the high standard Compete is known for.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Operations Management
- Oversee daily front desk operations including check-in/check-out, phones, emails, and staff scheduling
- Manage and develop front desk staff, holding the team to high standards of performance and professionalism
- Ensure facility cleanliness, safety, inventory, and maintenance standards are consistently met
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients and convert leads into paying members across youth, high school, and adult programs
Customer Service & Client Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and feedback — resolving issues with professionalism and urgency
- Foster a welcoming, high-energy environment that reflects Compete's culture and keeps clients engaged long-term
- Proactively communicate with members to improve retention and identify upsell opportunities
Field Space & Facility Rental Sales
- Identify, pitch, and close rental agreements with teams, leagues, travel organizations, private trainers, and event operators looking to utilize Compete's 25,000 sq ft facility
- Negotiate and manage field space contracts, scheduling, and client expectations from inquiry through renewal
- Build and maintain relationships with local sports organizations to drive consistent, recurring rental revenue
Billing & Financial Administration
- Oversee all billing operations including payment processing, invoicing, collections, and contract modifications
- Manage client accounts and resolve discrepancies quickly and accurately
- Track and report key financial metrics to the General Manager on a regular basis
Qualifications
Required
- 1 years in sales, operations, or customer service management with a proven track record of hitting targets
- Experience with billing, payment processing, and financial administration
- Strong communication skills and a professional, polished presence
- Proficiency with CRM systems, scheduling software, and Google Suite or Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
Preferred
- Background in fitness, sports performance, or a membership-based business
- Experience working with youth athletes or in a youth sports environment
- Familiarity with Mindbody or similar platforms
- Prior experience selling facility rentals, sponsorships, or B2B contracts
